DESCRIPTION:
A striking late 19th to early 20th century Japanese tansu chest, featuring five deep drawers, hand-forged iron hardware, and beautifully aged lacquered timber. Originally designed for practical storage, pieces like this were built to endure generations of use, and the honest wear across the surface tells that story beautifully.
The contrast between the rich timber sides and the black lacquered drawer fronts gives the piece a strong architectural presence, while the iron corner brackets, locks and carry handles add character and authenticity. Generous storage makes it as practical today as it was over a century ago.
A wonderful statement piece for a hallway, bedroom, living room or retail space, bringing warmth, history and understated Japanese craftsmanship to any interior.
CONDITION: Solid but Aged, all drawers flow free minus second drawer.
